Making your own cakes for holidays, birthdays, and “just because” is pretty simple, especially when you have the right equipment. And while cakes in the grocery tore can taste good, nothing really compares to the taste of a good homemade cake. Since I’m a chocolate fiend, one of my favorite recipes is a rich and delicious double chocolate layer cake with fudge swirl icing. Make Your Next Baked Bean Dish A Real Old Fashioned Treat

I never used to cook using dried beans until I compared the price of dry versus canned. Now, yes, I do keep some cans of various beans in the house for convenience, but when I cook my crock pot bean dish, I start with dry beans. It’s not really as fussy as you might think. Yes, you have to plan ahead to soak the beans overnight, and then cook them before putting them in the crock pot, but the results are worth it, and the money you save isn’t bad either! Italian Beans and Rice Were a Huge Hit in this Family

I spent an afternoon last week looking for some new side dish recipes. I just get tired of making the same few things every once in a while. Every time I do this, we try quite a few dishes that we don’t like all that much and we find one real keeper. This go around the Italian Beans and Rice recipe was a definite keeper. I loved how easy it was to put together and my family just gobbled it up. It’s definitely going to be a regular on our dinner menu from now on. I think next time I’ll add some cooked chicken to it and turn it into a filling main dish. I bet that would be yummy.
